⏱️ Quick answer: to reply to a positive Google review, thank the customer by first name, mention one specific detail from their review and end with an invitation to come back. Three sentences are enough; below are 18 ready-to-adapt examples by business type.
A 5-star review feels great, and it's tempting to leave it unanswered. But your reply is public: it sits under the review and is read by everyone who discovers your Google profile. It shows there's a real person behind the business. For the full method (positive, mixed and negative reviews), see our guide to replying to Google reviews. Here we focus on positive reviews, with templates to copy.
Why reply to positive reviews too
- The customer feels recognised and is more likely to come back and recommend you.
- Future customers read your replies. A profile where the owner answers everyone builds trust.
- Your profile looks alive. Google itself encourages businesses to reply to reviews.
- You can naturally mention a dish, a service or your neighbourhood — without stuffing keywords.
The 3-sentence method
- Thank them by first name.
- Pick up one detail from the review: the dish, the haircut, the job, the welcome.
- Close with an opening: come back soon, a new seasonal menu, a tip. Sign with your first name.
Ideal length: 2 to 4 sentences, roughly 30 to 70 words.

Merci beaucoup Julie ! Ravis que vous ayez trouvé votre bonheur à la boutique. À très bientôt !
When the review names an employee
Customers often mention a person: “Lea was lovely”, “Julien explained everything”. Thank them on that person's behalf and say you'll pass the message on. It's a small gesture, but it shows readers there's a real team, and it means a lot to the staff member. Keep only the first name, never a surname.
5 mistakes to avoid
- Pasting the same sentence everywhere.
- Ignoring the detail in the review (for reviews with no text, see how to reply to a star-only review).
- Adding heavy promotions or discount codes.
- Revealing private information.
- Replying months later — aim for within the week.
Save time without losing the personal touch
Paste a review into our free AI review reply generator and edit the draft before posting it on Google. Day to day, the Voxtya review replies module (€29/month) gathers your Google reviews in one screen with a reply already drafted in your tone. You review it, copy it, and a button opens your Google profile to paste it — Google doesn't yet let software post on your behalf.
