Google review QR code: your own QR code, ready to print

A Google review QR code opens your business’s review page directly. Customers no longer have to look for your listing: they scan, rate and write. With Voxtya you get this QR code in your name, print-ready materials and scan tracking, so the code is seen at the right moment and you know whether it works.

What your Voxtya review QR code includes

  • A QR code in your name, linked to your Google listing: the customer lands on a review page in your colours, then on Google’s “Write a review” window.
  • Print-ready materials, already laid out with your name and QR code: 4 A6 designs for table tents, a round sticker, a business-card-size card and a slip for the till receipt. You change the colour in one click.
  • The wheel of fortune, if you want it: the customer leaves a review, then tries to win a coffee or a dessert. It comes with 6 extra poster formats (A6, A5, square, table tent, DL, mini roll-up).
  • Scan tracking: visits through the QR code today, this week and in total, so you know which spot works.
  • A review link to share by email, in messaging apps or on your social media, and a review request email sent after a booking made online.

Where to put your QR code, trade by trade

The rule is simple: where customers are happy, have a minute to spare and their phone within reach. Avoid the entrance, where they have not experienced anything yet.

  • Restaurant, café, bar: on the table with the coffee or the bill, in the bill folder, at the counter or on coasters. See our pages for restaurants and bars.
  • Hair or beauty salon: at the styling station while the colour sets, next to the card machine or on the appointment card. See hair and beauty salons.
  • Bakery, shop: at eye level next to the till, and a sticker on bags or boxes for a review left at home. See bakeries.
  • Tradesperson, garage: on your business card, at the bottom of the invoice or the signed quote, left behind at the end of the job. See tradespeople and garages.
  • Hotel, holiday let: at reception, in the welcome book (“Before you leave” page) or on the invoice. See hotels and B&Bs.
  • Healthcare practice: discreetly, at reception or on the appointment card. See healthcare.

Which format to choose

MaterialSizeWhere to put it
Table tentA6 (10.5 × 14.8 cm)Restaurant or café tables, styling station, hotel room
Round sticker6 cm acrossNext to the card machine, on the bag or box, in the window
Card8.5 × 5.4 cmSlipped into the bill, the order or the invoice at the end of a job
Receipt slip7 × 3 cmPrinted with the till receipt or stuck on the order
Wheel postersA5, square, DL, mini roll-upCounter, till, window, waiting room

Print table tents on thick matte paper (250 gsm or more) and test the printed material with two phones before putting it out in numbers. The QR code should be at least 3 cm wide on a table, 5 cm or more on a poster read from a distance.

What to write next to the QR code

One short sentence that speaks to everyone, without mentioning a rating:

  • “Your review really helps us. Scan it, it takes 30 seconds.”
  • “A few words on Google? It means a lot to an independent business.”
  • “Thanks for coming! Tell people who are still making up their minds.”

Avoid “Leave us 5 stars”: Google asks you to invite every customer in the same way, without steering the rating. And the most effective approach is still to say it out loud at the right moment: our phrases for asking for a review in person.

Mistakes that cost you reviews

  • Pointing to the listing instead of the review page. The customer still has to find the “Write a review” button: many give up.
  • Not testing the printed material. A code that is too small, blurry or printed on a dark background is hard to read.
  • Mixing several locations. One QR code per address, otherwise reviews end up on the wrong listing. With Voxtya, each location has its own.
  • Not knowing whether it works. Without scan tracking, you cannot tell which spot performs. Change one thing at a time (spot, sentence, moment) and compare the scans from one week to the next.
  • Forgetting to reply to reviews. More reviews also means more replies to write. Our free review reply generator prepares a draft; with the Review replies service, every new review arrives with its reply ready.

The rules to follow

Asking for a review is allowed, and even encouraged by Google. Google’s rules do forbid rewarding only positive reviews, asking only happy customers and posting fake reviews. In France, the Consumer Code also penalises fake reviews, and the UK, Ireland and the rest of the EU have similar consumer rules (see our guide to online review laws). If you offer the wheel of fortune, every participant plays, whatever their rating: Voxtya’s wheel never asks for the rating. Details in the rules for a prize wheel and Google reviews.

To combine the QR code with the review link, asking in person and the email after the visit, read our guide how to get more Google reviews, see how to find your Google review link, or discover the Review collection service and the wheel of fortune.

QR code, NFC plate or Google review card: which one?

MaterialHow it worksCostBest for
Printed QR codeThe customer scans it with their phone cameraPrinting only (QR code and materials included in Review collection)Every business: tables, counter, bill, window
NFC plateThe customer taps their phone on the plate (contactless)Buying the plate, often with a QR code on the backCounter and till, if your customers have recent phones
Google review cardA business card with a QR code (sometimes an NFC chip) handed over in personPrinting or buyingTradespeople, hairdressers, home services

NFC does not work on every phone and customers need to know how to use it: the QR code remains the most universal option. A plate that combines both is often ideal. Either way, the link must open your Google review form directly: see how to find your Google review link. Whatever the material, the moment matters more than the object: hand it over or point to it when the customer has just told you they enjoyed their visit.

Frequently asked questions

What does Voxtya’s Google review QR code include?
A QR code in your name linked to your Google listing, a review page in your colours, table tents, stickers, cards and receipt slips ready to print, the wheel of fortune and scan tracking. It is all part of the Review collection service at €29/month.
How much does the service cost?
€29/month, or €23/month billed annually. With Review replies, the bundle is €49/month. The trial is free for 30 days and nothing is charged before the trial ends.
Where does the customer land after scanning?
On your Voxtya review page, in your colours, which sends them with one button to the “Write a review” window of your Google listing. If the wheel is switched on, they can then try their luck.
Can I see how many people scanned it?
Yes. Your dashboard shows visits through the QR code (today, this week, in total) and wheel participations.
How big should the printed QR code be?
At least 3 cm wide on a table tent or a card, 5 cm or more on a poster read from a distance. Keep a white margin around the code and good contrast.
I have two locations, what should I do?
One QR code per location, so each review lands on the right Google listing. An extra location costs €39/month.
Do my customers need to install an app?
No. They scan with their phone camera (iPhone or Android) and everything happens in the browser. Google asks them to be signed in to a Google account to post the review.
Why pay for a Google review QR code?
The QR code alone is only part of the job. The Review collection service (€29/month, 30-day trial) gives you the QR code in your name, table tents, stickers and cards ready to print, the wheel of fortune, the email after the visit and scan tracking, so you know what works.
Is a Google review NFC plate worth it?
It is handy at the counter, but not every customer knows how to use contactless and some phones do not read it. Choose a plate that also shows a QR code, and check that it opens your Google review form directly (not an intermediate page).
