Quick answer: the best free Yelp alternative for a local business is Google Business Profile: it is free, and it is where most customers look for a local business. Tripadvisor (food, tourism), Trustpilot (free plan with 50 invitations a month) and Facebook complete it. To get and manage more Google reviews, Voxtya offers free tools, then a paid service at €29 a month.

Yelp for Business lets you claim your page for free, then offers paid advertising (Yelp says you can spend as little as $5 a day on average). For many local businesses, especially outside the US, Google is where customers read reviews. So the real question is where to get and manage reviews for free. Here are the options, checked on 17 October 2026.

Why look for a Yelp alternative

Yelp is strong in the US. Elsewhere, many customers read reviews on Google when choosing a restaurant, hairdresser or tradesperson, right in the results and on Maps. Spending time (or ad money) where customers do not look pays little. Better to:

  • look after your Google listing, which is free;
  • ask your real customers for reviews regularly;
  • reply to every review, positive or negative.

The free alternatives, one by one

Google Business Profile: the priority

Your Google listing is free: reviews, replies, photos, hours, posts and insights. It is what shows when a customer searches for your trade nearby. Our Google Business Profile guide covers each setting.

Tripadvisor: for food and tourism

A Tripadvisor listing is free and lets you reply to reviews. It matters most for restaurants and hotels that welcome tourists.

Trustpilot: for online sales

Trustpilot’s free plan allows 50 review invitations a month; paid plans start at $99 a month with a 12-month commitment. It is mostly useful if you sell online. Details: Voxtya vs Trustpilot.

Facebook: the local community

A Facebook page receives free recommendations. Useful if your customers already follow you on Facebook.

Voxtya free tools

No sign-up needed: the AI review reply generator, the Google review calculator (how many 5★ reviews to reach a rating) and the visibility check. To go further, the Review collection service (€29 a month) adds a QR code, wheel of fortune and post-visit email.

Which tool for which business?

  • Any local business: Google Business Profile first.
  • Tourist restaurant or hotel: Google + Tripadvisor.
  • Online sales: Trustpilot.
  • US customers: Yelp still makes sense.
  • You want more Google reviews without thinking about it: Voxtya’s Review collection service.

Voxtya, in plain terms

Voxtya is not a review platform: your reviews stay on Google. Its free tools work without an account. The Review collection service costs €29 a month (QR code, wheel of fortune, post-visit email, campaigns to your customers), and the Collection + replies combo €49 a month. 30-day trial, no commitment. Getting more Google reviews for free: the method

  1. Get your Google review link (see our Google review link article).
  2. Print it as a QR code at the counter, on tables or on the invoice.
  3. Ask for the review in person, at the right moment, to every customer.
  4. Reply to every review within the week.
  5. Track your rating and review count every month.
